Online Internal Family Systems
(IFS) Therapy
Connect with your inner world, wherever you are
If your mind feels like a tangle of conflicting thoughts, emotions, or behaviors, like part of you is trying to hold everything together while another part is quietly falling apart, Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy offers a way through.
Online IFS therapy lets you do this work from the privacy of your own space, with a skilled trauma-informed therapist who understands how to support you at every step.
You don’t need to be in a therapist’s office to begin reconnecting with yourself. Sometimes, the safety of home makes that reconnection even more possible.
What Is Online IFS Therapy?
IFS is a compassionate, evidence-based therapy model built on the idea that we’re all made up of different parts. Some parts are protectors, like the inner critic or the part that avoids hard conversations. Others are younger, exiled parts that carry old pain, fear, or unmet needs. And at the centre of it all is your core Self: the part of you that’s calm, curious, and capable of healing.
In online sessions, we help you:
Identify the parts of you that have taken on protective roles
Understand what those parts are trying to prevent or protect
Gently reconnect with the younger parts carrying emotional wounds
Develop the internal trust needed to lead from your Self, not just your survival strategies
Online IFS therapy is delivered over secure video. But the work itself is deeply human, an invitation to shift the way you relate to yourself, and to create a new kind of inner safety.
Does IFS Therapy Work Online?
Yes, and for many people, it’s even more effective than in-person therapy.
Working from your own space can help your system settle. You’re surrounded by familiar cues: the chair you always sit in, the blanket that helps you breathe deeper, maybe even your dog resting beside you. For some clients, these comforts allow parts to emerge more easily and more honestly.
You don’t need a perfectly silent room or a meditation practice. All you need is a stable internet connection, some privacy, and a willingness to explore your inner landscape.
What Happens in a Virtual IFS Session?
Every session is unique, but most begin by slowing down.
Your therapist may guide you into gentle awareness of what’s present in the moment, thoughts, sensations, emotions, or impulses. Together, you’ll begin to notice who in your system is showing up. Is it a part that’s trying to problem-solve? A part that’s scared to speak? A part that doesn’t trust this process at all?
This noticing isn’t about fixing or performing. It’s about building a relationship with your internal world.
Many clients find it helpful to:
Use headphones for privacy and presence
Keep a grounding object or journal nearby
Set up a consistent space for sessions to signal safety to their nervous system
You’re not required to be eloquent or “on.” You don’t need to know where it’s going. Your therapist is there to track with you and to help the system unfold in a way that feels safe, collaborative, and steady.
Our Integrated, Trauma-Informed Approach
While IFS is the foundation of our work, it’s never the only tool. Our therapists are trained in a range of trauma-informed modalities to support your nervous system, your emotional process, and your capacity to stay connected, even when things get hard.
Depending on your system’s needs, your therapist may integrate:
EMDR therapy with online-compatible bilateral stimulation to process stuck experiences
Somatic tracking and grounding techniques to bring awareness to what’s happening in your body
Somatic Experiencing and Sensorimotor strategies to support nervous system safety and regulation
Attachment-based and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) to support emotional repair, connection, and trust
The goal isn’t just insight, it’s embodied change. We want your system to feel the difference, not just understand it intellectually.
