Meet Jamie Whitehead (she/her)

CBT • Somatic Therapy • Narrative Therapy • Family Systems • Teens and Young Adults

Jamie Whitehead is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (MA, RCC) with more than 17 years of experience supporting children, youth, adults, and families. Her approach is grounded, collaborative, and centred on helping people understand their inner world, navigate complex systems, and move toward meaningful change. Jamie’s work blends clinical skill with warmth and accessibility, offering a space where clients feel safe, supported, and understood.

Jamie offers both in-person counselling at our Cloverdale Surrey location and online therapy across British Columbia. She supports clients in navigating mental health, school and system-based concerns, family conflict, neurodivergence, emotional regulation, and the long-term effects of relational and developmental trauma.

Who Jamie Works With

  • Children, Youth, and Young Adults navigating anxiety, identity exploration, emotional regulation challenges, school-based stress, or the impacts of difficult life events. Jamie brings a steady, attuned presence that helps young clients understand what is happening inside and feel supported in building new skills.

  • Adults managing stress, grief, neurodivergence, transitions, relationship challenges, or trauma-related symptoms. Jamie helps adults gain clarity, regulate their nervous systems, and work toward goals that feel personally meaningful.

  • Families seeking more easeful dynamics, clearer communication, and support during times of rupture or transition. Jamie draws from systems theory and somatic awareness to help families understand patterns, reconnect, and find ways forward.

Areas of Specialization

Jamie’s work is grounded in a holistic, trauma-informed lens. Her focus areas include:

  • Complex trauma and PTSD

  • Neurodiversity and ADHD

  • Grief, loss, and major life transitions

  • Emotional regulation and behavioural challenges

  • Family conflict and communication

  • Identity and self-worth development

Jamie brings a thoughtful, relational, and body-aware approach to each session. Clients describe her as steady, compassionate, and deeply understanding, with an ability to make even complex situations feel more manageable.

Approaches Used in Therapy

  • Somatic Therapy

To explore protective parts, strengthen internal relationships, and support self-leadership.

  • Mindfulness and Grounding Practices

Supports emotional presence, stress recovery, and the ability to stay connected during difficult moments.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Helps clients shift unhelpful thought patterns and develop practical strategies for change.

  • Narrative Therapy

Invites clients to explore and rewrite the stories that shape how they see themselves and their relationships.

  • Family Systems Therapy
Helps families identify patterns, understand emotional reactions, and move toward healthier communication.

Jamie integrates these modalities based on each client’s needs, with an emphasis on respect, attunement, and emotional safety.

What To Expect

Jamie’s sessions are collaborative, steady, and paced with care. She listens closely for what needs attention and helps clients move toward clarity and connection. Her approach is relational and grounding, offering both compassion and gentle guidance.

Clients often leave sessions feeling more understood, more regulated, and more equipped with practical tools they can use between appointments.
